Throughout the CyberStart America program, there are multiple opportunities to gain rewards and recognition.

Through the National Cyber Scholarship Competition

National Cyber Scholarship Semifinalist

Eligible players who complete 20% of CyberStart Game will become semifinalists in the National Cyber Scholarship Competition, with an official badge awarded to recognize this achievement.

National Cyber Scholarship Finalist

Those who rank highly in the Competition will be awarded a National Cyber Scholarship Finalist badge, as well as access to accredited online cybersecurity training, provided by SANS Technology Institute, worth $3000 per license.

National Cyber Scholar

The highest ranked competitors in the National Cyber Scholarship Competition will receive a college scholarship to be used towards further cybersecurity study, in addition to the same benefits awarded to Finalists.

Through progress in CyberStart Game

CyberStart America Bronze Award

To earn this badge, a student must be registered to the CyberStart America program, and must complete at least 5% of CyberStart Game. This achievement shows that the student is on the way to mastering the basics of cybersecurity, and has demonstrated skills in problem-solving, lateral thinking, and basic use of browser developer tools.

CyberStart America Silver Award

This badge will be awarded to those that complete at least 40% of CyberStart Game. This achievement shows that the student has made good progress in a comprehensive breadth of skills, demonstrating strong traits to succeed in further cybersecurity training. Topics they have studied include: ciphers and codes, password security, ethical hacking, and Linux.

CyberStart America Gold Award

The Gold Award is for students who have completed 60% of CyberStart Game. This achievement shows that the student has made excellent progress in a comprehensive breadth of skills, with exceptional traits to succeed in further cybersecurity training. Topics they have studied include: steganography, exploitation, Python programming, and digital forensics
